How I Stay Inspired Creatively

As a small business owner, baker, content creator, and all-around dreamer, staying creatively inspired is both a blessing and a challenge. There are days when the ideas are flowing and I can’t write, bake, or create fast enough… and there are days when I stare at a blank screen or recipe card and wonder if the spark will ever come back.

The truth? Creativity isn’t something that magically appears—it’s something we gently nurture. Over the years, I’ve found rhythms, habits, and little rituals that help me reconnect to what inspires me most.

Here’s how I stay creatively inspired—even on the not-so-magical days:

 I Romanticize the Everyday

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned: inspiration doesn’t have to be dramatic. I find so much creative joy in the little things—a perfectly frothy iced coffee, sunlight pouring through the kitchen window, the scent of vanilla as cookies bake, or the sound of quiet rain while I journal.

My tip: Start noticing beauty in your routines. Snap photos. Write things down. Let the ordinary fuel your creativity.

I Make Something Just for Me

When I’m in a creative rut, it’s usually because I’ve been pouring out without filling up. So I bake a treat I’ve never shared online. I doodle in my notebook. I rearrange my space or take a photo just because I love how the light looks.

No pressure. No audience. Just joy.

Sometimes our best ideas come when we’re simply playing.

Inspiration is everywhere when we’re present enough to see it.

I Curate What I Consume

What we take in affects what we put out. So I fill my creative cup with content that inspires me: cozy vlogs, design books, beautiful cookbooks, Pinterest boards, music that makes me feel something, and conversations with other creative souls.

I also set boundaries around content that drains me—because comparison is a creativity killer.

Give Myself Permission to Rest

Here’s the truth: creativity needs rest. Breaks. Breathing room. If I’m burned out or overwhelmed, I can’t expect myself to be at my creative best. And that’s okay. It’s been important to me to give myself grace during the non-creative time. As you have noticed, I’ve been a little absent from this blog. I’ve been through some health stuff, that has finally worked itself out, I have the answers I need to live a full, sweet, and happy life. However, I’m back now and ready to share some amazing things. Thank you for being here!

Some of my best ideas come after a day off, a weekend unplugged, or a long nap with my dogs curled up next to me.

If you’re in a season where your creative spark feels dim, know this: it’s not gone. It’s just waiting for you to come home to yourself again. Inspiration lives in your quiet moments. In your laughter. In your deep breaths. In your courage to keep showing up.

This space—Living the Sweet Life—was born from that kind of inspiration. And I hope it reminds you to stay curious, stay kind to yourself, and keep creating from the heart.
