Apparently My Body Submitted a Formal Complaint

Lately, life has looked a little different behind the scenes.

And by “a little different,” I mean my calendar has become approximately 73% doctor appointments, tests, pharmacy trips, and Googling symptoms I probably should not be Googling.

Somewhere between trying to run a business, keep up with life, remember to drink enough water, and pretend everything is fine, my body decided it would be a great time to wave a tiny white flag and request a system reboot.

To be clear, I’m okay. But the past few months have definitely been… a journey.

You really don’t realize how much you appreciate feeling “normal” until your body starts doing weird little side quests. One day you’re productive and thriving, and the next you’re sitting in a parking lot after an appointment rewarding yourself with a little treat because you successfully survived being perceived by medical professionals.

Adulting is strange.

I’ve learned that health-related stress has a way of sneaking into every part of your day. It’s exhausting trying to balance responsibilities while also paying attention to every random symptom your body throws at you like a confused game show host.

But oddly enough, this season has also reminded me to slow down a little.

I’ve been learning to rest without feeling guilty about it. To stop treating “busy” like a personality trait. To listen to my body instead of trying to push through everything with caffeine and stubbornness.

(Although caffeine and stubbornness are still putting in overtime.)

And while I’m someone who naturally likes to keep things private, I also know there’s comfort in being honest about not always having it all together. Social media has a funny way of making it seem like everyone else is effortlessly thriving while you’re over here researching whether sinus pressure can somehow affect your entire emotional state.

Spoiler alert: apparently everything is connected.

So for now, I’m focusing on taking things one day at a time. Prioritizing rest. Giving myself grace. Appreciating the good days a little more. And maybe learning that I don’t always have to earn rest by completely burning myself out first.

If you’ve been dealing with your own difficult season lately — health-related or otherwise — I hope this reminds you that it’s okay to slow down sometimes. Your worth is not measured by your productivity, and surviving a stressful week absolutely counts as an accomplishment.

Especially if you managed to answer emails and drink water.

That deserves a gold star, honestly.
