There’s nothing quite like an Arizona summer. The sunshine is strong, the skies are stunning blue, and the temperatures…well, lets just say they’re no joke. With triple digits being the norm from June through September, staying cool, hydrated and sane becomes a seasonal skill. But here’s the good news: you an survive the heat – and still live a sweet, joyful, beautiful life.
Hydration is non-negotiable
Let’s start with the obvious: water. In the dry Arizona heat, you lose moisture fast, and dehydration can sneak up on you quickly. I carry a reusable water bottle everywhere and recently started taking a Gatorlyte Zero, along with extra electrolyte packets for the extremely hot days or long outings.
Keep your home a cool, peaceful escape
Your space matters so much in the summer. I use light cotton sheets, blackout curtains (to block out the brutal afternoon sun), and fans in nearly every room.
Home Favorites:
- Summer-Fun Candles (Currently loving the Sugar Cone Crunch Candle from Bath & Body Works)
- Linen Throw Blankets
- Frozen Cooling Towels
- Nugget Ice Maker
- Indoor Plants that thrive in dry heat
Dress like the heat doesn’t bother you (Even if it does)
Arizona summer style is all about light, breathable, no touchy outfits. I lean into neutrals, pastels, oversized, cute and comfortable pieces. A hat, sunglasses, good SPF and extra water are a must.
Be Mindful of your Pups
As a dog mom, I’m super conscious of my pups’ comfort in the heat. I limit outdoor time, only walk early or late and make sure we all have cool water ready. Cooling mats, shade tents and frozen treats help keep things safe and fun.
Embrace the Slower Pace
If Arizona summers have taught me anything, it’s the are of slowing down. Instead of fighting the heat, I try to flow with it. More indoor evenings, more iced coffees, more quiet moments watching the sunset from the back patio with a cold drink in hand.
The heat might be intense, but summer can still be soft, sweet and beautiful- if you let it.
